Parents & Dancers:   Please review these 3 updates for Blocking Day & Showcase!

THIS IS US – opening number at Showcase

Since this is not a Production year, we wanted to give our Dance Showcase a theme…this year’s theme is THIS IS US.  To introduce the Showcase to the audience, our seniors have written (and recorded) spoken words that exemplify US…our dance team, the dancers, our studio, our dance family.  The entire dance team will dance ‘improv’ to the spoken words as the opening act of the showcase (at both shows).   All dancers will need to dress in all black dancewear (bootie shorts or leggings and bra top, or leotard) similar to what was worn at group photo day.  Please note that the black dancewear should NOT have any LARGE LOGOS, and no tape to cover them up.  We are excited about this addition to the show, and are even more excited that these spoken words were written by our seniors, Emma Darling, Savannah Drexler, and Lily Jorgensen.  Cheryl will review where each group will need to stand to improv, at Blocking Day on Saturday.

HAIR UPDATE for BLOCKING DAY – This Saturday, February 11 at Milton Center

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Cheryl wants to see competition hair on Blocking Day.   Click here to review the specifics for this weekend’s Blocking Day timing and requirements. Note that if you cannot have competition hair on Blocking Day because of a prior commitment either before or after your blocking time, you will need to show to Cheryl the competition hairstyle on your dancer sometime next week, prior to Showcase on February 18.

SHOWCASE Signup Genius – Needs Your Attention

Click here to volunteer on the Showcase Signup Genius. We will need to signup/hold multiple roles during the 2 shows. There are only a few roles (such as room moms, backstage managers) that are active throughout the show. Most other roles can double-up, AND you can still watch the show. You can take tickets before the show, sit down to enjoy the dancers, help out in Concessions during Intermission, and sit back down to enjoy the second act.  Please step up to help and get these positions filled now!  THANKS!

Saturday, February 4 – Dress Rehearsal

This is a full dress rehearsal, so please bring all costumes (that you have in hand) and accessories, tights and shoes.   We need to have the dancers in this year’s hairstyle as well (no make-up is needed).   Please be on time, as you can see this is a long day.

• BRAVO – 10:00am – 11:30am
• APPLAUSE – 11:30am – 1:00pm
• OVATION – 2:00pm – 3:30pm
• OVATION & PREMIER Musical Theater & Hip Hop  – 3:30pm – 4:00pm
• BRIAN’S LYRICAL (for the 5 in Ovation and Premier only) – 4:00pm – 4:15pm (Note:  ELITE not required at this time slot since this is a dress rehearsal)
• PREMIER – 4:15pm – 5:30pm
• ELITE – 5:30pm – 7:30pm

We will also take photo button headshots on Sunday, February 5.   Anne Frame and Angela Coppola will be taking pics of the dancers at the following times:

• 9:50am
• 10:50am
• 2:00pm
• 3:30pm  

Note:  You only need to have a photo taken if you want a photo button.     Details of the photo buttons are explained in the recent web post (click here to be directed to the Photo Buttons web post).    

Reminder:   If you want a photo taken, you should have your dancer wear light make-up, and her hair should be in a high bun.  Dancers should wear their white Vibe jacket.

We wanted to recap some of the particulars that are important/required to ensure that you have completed them, as well as share the “All About Competition” document to get you prepared for the competition season.  Below is your “laundry list” of reminders/to do’s to give you a checklist to make sure you have completed these tasks prior to next week’s start of dance classes:

1. OTHER MAKE-UP and DANCER ACCESSORIES:  Please make sure that you have inventoried your make-up bag and dancer accessories based on the “Items Needed for Competition” list that was posted earlier in December.   Click here to be directed to the document.
2. SHOES:  Make sure that you have purchased the appropriate shoes that are listed in the Shoe Buying Guide web page.
3. NEW INFO — TIGHTS:   The tights information is now loaded onto the following website link: Click here for the Tights Buying Guide web page. Please make sure that you have the appropriate tights for your dancer.   And always, please have extra pairs of tights on hand of each type needed, just in case your dancer gets a tear or snag.
4. Next, we have loaded the “All About Competition” reference document to the Members Only section of the web site.   We encourage you to read the document with your dancer.  It contains new, important information about competitions, how we should conduct ourselves, as well as general information to assist in making this a fun competition season for both you and your dancer!  We promise that reading this together with your daughter…even if you have been in Vibe for years….will help you and your dancer become better prepared for the coming months.  Click here to be directed to the “All About Competition” reference document.
5. Lastly, please check the Master Calendar often.   Keeping your schedule in sync with the Master Calendar is SO important to your dancer and the entire team.   Please continue to check the Master Calendar against your personal calendar to ensure that all dates are appropriately aligned (correct date and time is noted on your calendar).
   1. One rehearsal time change to note:   Saturday, MARCH 18, 2017 – OVATION & PREMIER – Musical Theatre & Hip Hop Rehearsal has been changed to 4pm – 6pm (from 10am – 12noon).
