Bigs/Littles…Let’s Clap & Cheer at Applause

Let’s make some noise at APPLAUSE TALENT this coming weekend!  Let’s give our BIGS & LITTLES an “APPLAUSE” with this fun clapper. White clappers will be at the studio for the dancers to pick up on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week (March 19-21). Please decorate a clapper for your BIG or LITTLE.

You can use paint pens, permanent markers, jewels, etc. BE CREATIVE! Bring your decorated clapper to Chattanooga to give to your BIG or LITTLE during the competition so that everyone can use them to make some noise! 👋

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO PICK UP A CLAPPER AT THE FRONT DESK!!!
***(If you have 2 Littles, please pick up and decorate 2 clappers)

Give Back with Mascara Wands

Who has more used mascara wands than a group of competitive dancers??    The Ecks have found an easy way for our team to give back.   The Wands for Wildlife initiative upcycles used mascara wands to clean away oil, larvae, fly eggs, mites, infections, mud, and other contaminants from wildlife.  There will be a collection box for the used wands at the studio front desk.  We will be collecting them now through Saturday, April 20.  If you wish, you can clean the wands with Dawn dish detergent (or we will clean them before they are sent to Wands for Wildlife).  So, clean out your make-up bag or drawer today, and see how many used mascara wands you can find!

Big/Little To Do for Masquerade

Bigs and Littles…it’s time to get this competition season started!   Part of being on our team is encouraging each other throughout the competition.  We thought an Acrostic Poem would be a fun way to show your Big or Little how much you are supporting them.

Also, make sure that you are at the venue to cheer on your BIG or LITTLE this weekend. Dancers can give the poem to their Big/Little at any time during the Masquerade competition.

Best of luck to all of the dancers at Masquerade this weekend.  💜💚

Optional…Attach a treat to your note if you wish.   🍭

Poem Example:  Sara

S – Sassy  & superior girl

A – Amazing dancer

R – Radiantly beautiful to watch

A – Awesome & Admirable

Let The Good Times Roll…at Masquerade!

Choreography Days (for next season) Announced

The following are confirmed dates for Choreography for next season 2019-2020.  Please block out these dates on your calendar.

  • July 26 – July 28
  • Week of July 29
  • Week of August 5 – 11

The Master Calendar has been updated with these potential dates.   We do not know at this point which groups will be on which days, so please keep them all available.   Exact timing will be communicated as soon as it is known (which will not be until closer to these dates).

Reminder of other important dates:  Week of June 17 is Raise The Barre (which includes the audition for next year’s season.)

Also, Cheryl has updated the “free” weeks list (no required dance activities scheduled) for Summer 2019:

  • Week of June 3
  • Week of June 10
  • Week of June 24
  • Week of July 1
  • Week of July 8
  • Week of July 15
  • Week of July 22 (up to July 26 which starts Choreography)

You will note that there could be a tech class offered at FootNotes on any of these weeks that your dancer may want to participate in, but it is not a ‘required’ class.  The schedule for these classes will be sent out from FootNotes in a few weeks.

Reminders…DVD’s and JUMP

Two reminders that are due this Friday, March 1:

  1. The deadline to order Showcase DVD’s is approaching…this Friday, March 1 end of day.  Click here to access the webpage to order your Showcase DVD now.  The DVD’s are only available as a pre-order.  If you are unsure if you purchased a DVD already, you can search your email for the following subject: “Order confirmation from The Vibe Performance Company/FootNotes”.  If you cannot find that, you can email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com.
  2. JUMP Dance Convention is OPTIONAL.   Therefore, Cheryl needs to know if you intend to register your dancer for this dance convention by Friday, March 1 end of day also.  This competition will likely sell out…so if you want your dancer to participate, Cheryl needs to know by this Friday.    Click here to access the webpost about  JUMP which contains the google form to fill out.

April 19/20 weekend – need your feedback

Cheryl is looking for schedule conflict times for Easter weekend, specifically Friday, April 19 through Saturday, April 20. Rehearsal could start as early as 5pm on Friday, April 19, so please use that as your starting point for listing any schedule conflicts.   She is looking for “absolutely unavoidable” schedule conflicts only…this is the ONLY weekend in April where rehearsals are possible.

Please note on the form which day/time your dancer IS NOT available during this timeframe for rehearsal planning purposes. We need a response from you ASAP (by Saturday, March 2 end of day) in order for Cheryl to finalize the April rehearsal schedule. EXAMPLE OF HOW TO TYPE IN YOUR DANCER’S CONFLICT: Saturday, April 20 – ACT Test from 9am – 12:30pm.

Click here to access the form.
