Master Calendar Updates

We have more Master Calendar updates to share with you for the weekend of September 7.  The Master Calendar has been updated with the following:     

Saturday, September 7

  • PREMIER & ELITE Musical Theater Choreography (Optional dance):  10:00am – 1:00pm
  • Big/Little Sister Reveal:  1:00pm – 3:00pm
    • Will include lunch for the dancers (Signup Genius for lunch food will be sent out soon)
    • Moms or Dads of dancers are welcome to stick around for the fun!
  • ELITE Heels/Jazz Choreography (Optional dance): 3:00pm – 6:00pm

Sunday, September 8

  • ELITE Heels/Jazz Choreography:  10:00am – 12:00pm
  • ELITE Lunch Break – 12:00pm – 1:00pm
  • PREMIER & ELITE Musical Theater Choreography: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Update on Hotel Group Code – not active yet

We have just learned that the Holiday Inn Express (the only one on the list) has not activated our group code on their system to accept the rate that was quoted.   We have had a couple of parents try to call the hotel and use the group code, and they were told the group code is not active in their system yet.   Lori has just called the hotel, and they acknowledged our block of rooms,  but confirmed they do not see the group code active on their system.  They told her the system issue should be resolved by tomorrow afternoon.  Therefore, we suggest holding off contact with this hotel until tomorrow afternoon.

Update on Regional Competitions & Hotel Info

Our Hotel Logistics team of Lori Murphy and Trisha Urrea have been busy on the phones to secure hotels for the other competitions…thank you again, ladies, for all of your hard work! 

Please click here to be directed to the Competition Hotel webpage.   Please read the Hotels PDF document carefully.  There is a lot of information being communicated about each option listed in the  Hotels document.  Make sure you review each hotel’s cancellation policy as you are booking the reservation.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you can not secure the rate that is listed for a hotel, please email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com, (include which hotel and rate), and we will get that information to our Hotel Logistics committee for review with the hotel.  They will let you know if they are able to secure additional rooms at the special rate. Note that we are not able to secure a block of 70+ rooms at these rates at each hotel…hotels will not allow us to do that. We have smaller blocks of rooms secured at each hotel, with the option of them allowing us to open up more accommodations should we book to their maximum allowed for the block (assuming rooms are still available at that rate).

Jackets & Backpacks…Reminder to Order!

Date Change – Blocking Day

We have the following date change to share with you:  Showcase Blocking Day has been moved from Saturday, February 1 to Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 2pm – 9pm.  (We know this is Super Bowl Sunday. Production will likely not be blocked on this day, given that we will need prop dads to assist with setup.)  This is the only day/time the venue is available around our Showcase date weekend. Remaining Blocking Day activities will be completed on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 5pm – 9pm.  Please update your calendars.  The Master Calendar has been updated.   A detailed schedule for Blocking Day and Showcase will be sent out closer to the events.

Jackets & Backpacks…It’s time to order!

The Vibe will be placing the ONE TIME PER YEAR order for Jackets and Backpacks.

The order deadline is Friday, August 30. The form must be filled out for all dancers, even if you do not need to order anything.  The jacket and backpack are mandatory for all members.  This post has a lot of details that we need to make you aware of, so please read on…

  • New members, place your order for both the jacket and backpack using the link at the bottom of the web post.
  • Returning  members, please do an honest assessment of the condition of your backpack, as well as the condition and fit of your white jacket. Both must be a good condition to last the entire dance season.
  • An Order Confirmation will be emailed to the email address you provide on the form to show you which items you requested to order.  If you do not receive an order confirmation, your order was not received.

Jackets: The same jacket will be used again this year.  It is a retro-style white and black jacket with the FootNotes Dance logo (red, black and white) on the back.  The jacket is available in Youth XS-L and Adult XS-6XL sizes (see size chart below).   It is the parent’s responsibility to select the size they feel would work best for their dancer.    

  • If you already own last year’s White and Black jacket style (and it still fits and is in good shape), you are not required to purchase a new jacket for this 2019-2020 dance season.  
  • To determine jacket size, focus on the bust and waist size for appropriate fit.  We will have some sample jackets (most popular sizes) for dancers to try on at the studio.

Backpacks:  The same backpack will be used again this year. This bag is the perfect size to hold ALL of the dancer’s shoes. The dancers will use this bag for weekly classes, as well as workshops and competitions.  The backpacks will have the FootNotes logo embroidered on the front flap, and your dancer’s name will be embroidered on the side pocket.   Please check your dancer’s backpack to see if it is still in good shape or needs replacing. They are typically ready to be replaced after 2-3 years.

Big/Little Sister Reveal ~ Date Announced


ALL GROUPS:  Our Big/Little Sister chairs are working on plans for our dancer’s Big/Little Sister Reveal.  Mark your calendars to have your dancer at the studio on Saturday, September 7.  The activity will be between 12noon and 5pm (and should be between 1-2 hours)….we will announce exact time of the event as soon as the choreography times for that weekend have been finalized.  The Master Calendar has been updated.

Our Vibe Hotel Logistics committee has been hard at work securing multiple hotel options for our regional competitions.  Thank you to Lori Murphy and Trisha Urrea…we appreciate you organizing these hotel blocks for us! 

Birmingham hotel room blocks have been secured.  Hotel information is available on the Competition Hotel webpage We will publish other hotels at the respective venue locations as soon as the information is available (and we will send a blog post letting you know the hotel information has been updated).  Click here to access the Competition Hotels webpage.

Date Update and Reminders

DATE CHANGE – ALL GROUPS:   Production Lock-in dates have been changed due to multiple conflicts shared after the times were announced.   Also, the choreographer has changed.  Madison Benson will be setting Production this season. Dates are:   Saturday, October 5 as early as 3pm (final timing will be sent out as soon as it is finalized) through to Sunday, October 6 between 7:30am – 8:30am. The Master Calendar has been updated.   If your dancer is unable to make these dates, please email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com ASAP so that Cheryl is aware.  These dates will not change again..thank you for your flexibility.  Exact timing and details about the lock-in will be announced as soon as it is finalized.

REMINDERS:   Check out the Team To Do List webpage for items that are due soon (this Friday, August 16 end of day), including the Volunteer Information Questionnaire, the Medical Release Form, and Optional Dances Interest Forms (Elite and Premier only).   If you have already filled out these forms, thank you!    If you have not, please do so by the due dates.  These lists will be compiled for Cheryl this weekend, so we need your answers by this Friday.
