Showcase 2020 Timing & Details – A MUST READ

We have added 2 new documents to the Vibe Showcase 2020 Member Information web page.

  • The first document added is called “Showcase – Day of Shows Details.” It covers exact timing and expectations of the dancer and parents on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9.
  • The second document is called “Map & Parking for Denmark High School.” It explains details about where to enter the school, parking for Showcase guests, as well as parking for Vibe members on day of shows.

Below is a RECAP of documents contained in the Showcase 2020 Member Information web page: 1) Blocking Day Details; 2) NEW: Showcase – Day of Show Details (for next Saturday and Sunday); 3) NEW: Map & Legend of Denmark High School; 4) Show Order; 5) Showcase Signup Genius.

  • Reminder that part 2 of Blocking Day is Friday, February 7 – ALL DANCERS at Denmark High School.   Check the Blocking Day Details document for exact times for your group.
  • The Showcase Chairs (Lori Murphy and Linda Nowlin) will start the Parent Meeting at 6pm in the lobby area outside the theatre at the school.  It is mandatory for 1 parent to attend.  
  • We have a few positions still open on the Showcase Signup Genius.  We need members to volunteer for at least one position on day of shows.   And, if you can, please consider volunteering for more than one of the available positions….there are a few positions that are left (Ticket Usher on Sunday, Prop Dads both days, Shout Out Sales on Sunday, Clean up tasks – both days, Decorations Committee.)  Thanks for everyone volunteering to assist in making this our BEST SHOWCASE yet!      

 

Solo/Duo/Trio SUG Updated w/ February Dates

The Solo/Duo/Trio Signup Genius has been updated – February dates for private rehearsals are now available.   Click here to access the Signup Genius.

Reminders:

  • You must bring payment ($30 for a 30 minute session with Cheryl, & $35 for Madison) at the start of each rehearsal.  There is no option to have this charge added to your FootNotes account.  All dancers must pay the instructor directly by either check, Venmo, or cash.
  • Make sure that you note on the Signup Genius whether you are signing up for your dancer’s solo, duo, or trio rehearsal.   Please make sure that only 1 mom or dancer signs up for a given slot for a duo or trio.
  • Please bring your music to the private lesson.
  • If your dancer is unable to attend your booked rehearsal session, you must notify FootNotes at footnotesdance@comcast.net, at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled time.   If you ‘miss’/forget a rehearsal that you have signed up for, you are still responsible for the payment to the instructor.
  • As always, dancers are always free to book an empty room to practice on their own.

  • NOTE:  It is possible other group rehearsals will take place this afternoon.  Cheryl will decide which dances need additional rehearsal time.   Please keep the afternoon available for a possible rehearsal.  We will communicate updates to the schedule as soon as they are known.

 March 20 weekend

  • There will be rehearsals on the weekend of March 20.   Based on what was submitted as Schedule Conflicts, we will reach out to parents (those in private school whose spring break is this weekend) for details on your dancer’s availability.  

FootNotes #dancedad Spiritwear Option Now Available!

We have a new FootNotes Spiritwear option available just for DAD, just in time for competition season! (see picture of shirt below).

T-shirt is black crew neck with white lettering printed on the front of the shirt only.  Made of Tri-Blend Jersey (50% Polyester, 25% Cotton, 25% Rayon) and available in adult sizes S – XXXL (size chart below). Price is $12 per shirt.

This shirt is available for purchase now through this Thursday, January 30 at 2PM (this is a one time order)!

Be sure to double check your size and quantity to order before submitting your order.  You will receive an order confirmation email at the email address you enter on the order form.

More Dates Announced ~ Mark your Calendars!

More dates to add to your calendars:

Raise the Barre Dance Intensive (which includes auditions for next year’s Vibe dance teams) is confirmed for the week of June 15, 2020.  It is shown as the entire week on the Master Calendar…detailed dates/times will be announced closer to the date.  As always, Raise the Barre will be filled with intensive classes with guest choreographers, as well as FootNotes instructors.  This is a mandatory event for all dancers wishing to audition for the 2020-2021 Vibe Performance Company dance team.   

Nationals Rehearsals for our dancers will be June 20 – 26! These are also mandatory rehearsals. Reserve these dates on your calendar now.  Cheryl will publish a detailed rehearsal schedule by group closer to the date.

These 2 events noted above have been added to the Master Calendar.

Also, for your summer planning, the following weeks will not have required dance activities scheduled.  Per Cheryl, these are the ‘open’/available weeks that she is aware of right now:  weeks of May 25 (must be back by Saturday, May 30 for Recital Dress Rehearsal), June 1, June 8, July 6, July 13, and July 20 (week only…choreography may start on Saturday, July 25).     

1 New To Do and a few Reminders

We are fairly certain you have felt the pressure of dance season taking shape from the last couple of weeks…lots of emails, meetings, and new costumes arriving into your home.  While it is not quite ”showtime”, it is definitely “GO TIME” for this season!!

We have 1 new item for you to take action on:

EARRINGS…Cheryl has selected a new earring for this competition season. ALL MEMBERS will need to order/purchase at least 1 pair of these new earrings.  You will have the option of ordering a second pair as well.  Click here to access the Earring Order Form.  We need this form filled out by ALL MEMBERS by Sunday, January 26 end of day.  

Second, we have included a reminder checklist to ensure you have completed these required tasks in prep for Showcase and competition season…these items need to be completed ASAP if they are not already done:

  1. SHOES:  Make sure that you have purchased the appropriate shoes (style and color) that are listed in the Shoe Buying Guide.   Dancers should be breaking in their shoes at class now…you don’t want your dancer wearing new shoes for the first time at Showcase Blocking Day.
    1. As needed, have your dancer wear her competition shoes to her weekly rehearsal class for each dance style to “break in” her competition shoes.  Make sure she takes good care of them, and that they are free of scuffs and marks throughout the season.
  2. TIGHTS:   The tights information by group is on the website: Click here to access the Tights Buying Guide. Please make sure that you have the appropriate tights (style and color) for your dancer.
  3. OTHER MAKE-UP and DANCER ACCESSORIES:  Please make sure that you have inventoried your make-up bag and dancer accessories based on the “Items Needed for Competition” list that was posted in December.  Click here to be directed to the document.
  4. LABEL EVERYTHING:   ALL dance costume pieces, ALL accessories, ALL shoes and tights need to be labeled with your dancer’s name.
  5. HOTEL RESERVATIONS:  Make sure that you have hotel reservations per the Hotel Info link.  We also recommend that you double-check your reservations with the hotel to ensure that you have a reservation (make sure you keep your confirmation #’s handy because we have seen some of these smaller hotels lose individual reservations in past years).
  6. Lastly, please continue to check the blog and Master Calendar often. Keeping your schedule in sync with the Master Calendar is SO important to your dancer and the entire team. Please continue to check the Master Calendar against your personal calendar to ensure that all dates are appropriately aligned (correct date and time is noted on your calendar).

Workshop #2 – NUVO Details

Information is now available regarding the upcoming Nuvo Dance Convention in Atlanta on the weekend of January 24please click here to be directed to the web page that contains all of the Vibe details about Nuvo!  (This page is password protected with the password given out in August.)  This web page contains a link to a PDF document that includes all info you need to know about Nuvo.    

To do’s for Nuvo:

  1. Sign the waiverThis IS REQUIRED paperwork in order for your dancer to participate at Nuvo, so it must be signed digitally by Thursday, January 23.  Link to sign Dance 360 waiver included in the Nuvo document link on the web page above.
  2. If you are available to chaperone the event (we need 7 chaperones each day – 1-2 for each age grouping), please signup using the Signup Genius in the Nuvo document linked on the web page above.
  3. Your Group Mom will be coordinating the transportation plan for your group to and from the Hotel (groups generally car pool).  We find that having the group mom coordinate this for each team works out best for the team.  She will be in touch soon with planning.

Showcase Signup for Day of Shows

The Vibe’s Showcase Committee has a long list of volunteer positions to be filled for the 2 days of the shows.  Please click here to access the list of all volunteer positions for our Vibe 2020 Dance Showcase.   We have also added it to the Showcase 2020 Member Information page for easy access to it.   

A couple of reminders about the Signup Genius:  Every Vibe family is obligated to volunteer at least one position during Showcase.   We have many positions to fill in order to ensure Showcase goes off “without a hitch!”  This is the best time of the year to earn your hours towards the 12 hour required from each dancer family (20 hours for families with two dancers). Many of these openings that can be filled by moms, dads, as well as older (8th grade – college) siblings.

Please be aware of any time conflicts when signing up for multiple roles. For instance, you can not be a Lead Group Mom and work concessions for the same show as you would be needed in both roles at the same time. However, you could easily be a Lead Group Mom for the Saturday show and work concessions for the Sunday show, as an example.  If you have any questions on volunteer positions, feel free to email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com.

Vibe Group Photos are now available for your viewing and downloading for printing and social media.  Click here to access the Group Photo web page (you can also access this page from the Members Only pull-down menu on the web site).  As a reminder, this is a password protected web page.
