Workshop #1 – Tremaine Details

Information is now available regarding the upcoming Tremaine Dance Convention in Atlanta on the weekend of November 2please click here to be directed to the web page that contains all of the Vibe details about Tremaine!  (This page is password protected with the password given out in August.)  This web page contains a link to a PDF document that includes all info you need to know about Tremaine.

NOTE:  The arrival and departure times in the Tremaine document are approximate based on a sample schedule they have provided us.  We will update the PDF document on the Tremaine web page once we receive the final schedule from Tremaine (generally the week before the event).  We will send another post when the information is updated.

To do’s for Tremaine:

  1. If you are available to chaperone the event (we need 6 chaperones each day – 2 for each age grouping), please signup using the Signup Genius in the Tremaine document linked on the web page above.
  2. Your Group Mom will be coordinating the transportation plan for your group to and from the Hotel (groups generally car pool).  We find that having the group mom coordinate this for each team works out best for the team.  She will be in touch soon with planning.

Production Lock-In Timing & Reminders

Saturday’s Production Lock-in will be here before you know it, and this season’s Production piece and theme will be revealed to our dancers and parents!

As mentioned in a prior post, the lock-in is an overnight event where the entire company (all 76 dancers) will work together towards the goal of learning all of the choreography for this year’s Production piece.

REMINDERS:  Please send your dancer to the studio well-rested and ready to work hard and have some fun!  Please also remind her to always be respectful of our choreographers and to each other, to listen well (no talking while in the studio learning their part of the dance), and to take direction when given.  We need every dancer’s cooperation in order for all of the choreography to be completed at the lock-in.

Arrival Time at Studio:  Saturday, October 5 at 2:45pm…but please, no earlier.   Choreography will begin at 3:00pm sharp.

Pick-Up Time:  Dancers are to be picked up on Sunday, October 6 between 8:00am – 8:30am.

Food: For those bringing food (Fruit, Pasta, and Salad items) from the Signup Genius where we indicated “Time TBD”, we will be in touch with you individually on timing of when we would like the food to arrive.   All other items from the Signup Genius can be brought in at Drop-off.

Water:    All dancers should bring their own refillable water bottle.  We will have a water station for them to refill water bottles.

Other Items For Your Dancer To Bring: jazz shoes, pillow, sleeping bag, PJ’s, Toothbrush/toothpaste, and any other overnight “necessities” to help you relax and get to sleep (a cuddle toy, ear plugs or ear buds, ipad, etc.) If you have an air mattress, your dancer may bring that as well.

Please also make sure that EVERYTHING brought to the lock-in is labeled with your dancer’s name!

IMPORTANT:   If your dancer has a food allergy or anything else that the Studio needs to be aware of for the overnight, please email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com.

You may only sign up for one slot each time new dates are posted.  After a week, you may check again and sign up for one more open slot.

Dancers, please remember the following:

  • Please bring your music to the private lesson.
  • Please bring payment ($30 for a 30 minute session with Cheryl, & $35 for Madison) at the start of each rehearsal.  There is no option to have this charge added to your FootNotes account.  All dancers must pay the instructor directly by either check, Venmo, or cash.
  • If your dancer is unable to attend your booked rehearsal session, you must notify FootNotes at footnotesdance@comcast.net, at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled time.   If you ‘miss’/forget a rehearsal that you have signed up for, you are still responsible for the payment to the instructor.
  • As always, dancers are always free to book an empty room to practice on their own.

We have 2 community events that we are planning (Master Calendar has been updated):

  • Friday, November 8 – Parents Night Out
    • Last year’s Parents Night Out (PNO) event at the studio was so successful (and fun!), so we are planning to host another PNO this year…maybe a second one if the schedule in December allows!  Just like last year, we will plan on dancing, games & crafts, pizza, and a movie for children between the ages of 3-10 (event hours are 6pm – 9pm).  We need dancers and a few parents to volunteer for the event.
    • Click here to access the sign-up to volunteer for the Parent Night Out event.
    • Notes about volunteering:
      • Volunteers MUST arrive by 5:30pm to help setup and direction and are expected to stay until 9:30pm for cleanup.
      • Dancers: You will be expected to assist in various activities with the children, the entire length of the Parent Night Out event.  Dancers who volunteer can earn Beta hours for participating.
      • Minimum dancer age to volunteer is 12 years old.   If Mom/Dad has questions on whether your child should sign-up to volunteer, please feel free to email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com.
  • Saturday, December 7 – Johns Creek Founder’s Day Parade – Let’s show our FootNotes spirit and promote our studio name in our community.  We would like to have as many Vibe dancers as possible REPRESENTING!  And we will want a few adult chaperones for the younger groups.  Some details about the event are included in the Signup Genius…we will update you as we find out more information, closer to the event.

Please email us at the footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com with any questions. We will send out more information on these events as details are firmed up.
