The following are confirmed dates for Choreography for next season 2020-2021.  Please block out these dates on your calendar.

• July 25 through August 1
• Week of August 2 – August 8

The Master Calendar has been updated with these potential dates.   Please keep these days all available as choreography is a mandatory event. Exact timing will be communicated as soon as it is known (which will not be until closer to these dates).

Reminder of other important/mandatory dates:  Week of June 15 is Raise The Barre (which includes the audition for next year’s season.)

Also, REMINDER for your summer planning, the following weeks will not have required dance activities scheduled.  Per Cheryl, these are the ‘open’/available weeks that she is aware of right now:  weeks of May 25 (must be back by Saturday, May 30 for Recital Dress Rehearsal), June 1, June 8, July 6, July 13, and July 20 – 24.

You will note that there could be a tech class offered at FootNotes on any of these weeks that your dancer may want to participate in, but it is not a ‘required’ class.  The schedule for these classes will be sent out from FootNotes soon.

To kickoff our first competition of the season at Masquerade Dance, our Big/Little Chairs have created a Spirit Wall banner for our dancers.  The banner will be hung at the studio tomorrow, Saturday, March 7 (reminder: ALL groups have Production rehearsal on Saturday.)

DANCER TO DO:  Dancers are asked to decorate (paper and colored pencils will be provided at the studio) a fleur-de-lis and write a note of encouragement to their big or little sister. Dancers should include her name and her Big or Little Sister’s name on the note. If you do not have time to make the fleur-de-lis on Saturday, please take one home, decorate it and write your note of encouragement, and bring it back to the studio early next week. Once you have created with your fleur-de-lis, tape it around the banner (tape will be provided). Let’s fill the wall quickly with lots of encouraging notes!

For those of you new to Masquerade Dance, the fleur-de-lis symbol is part of the Masquerade logo/branding.

The Vibe End of Year Party date has been set for Thursday, June 25 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm.  It will be held poolside at The Falls at Autry Mill.  Details will follow closer to the event.    The Master Calendar has been updated.

With competition season just around the corner, we wanted to remind everyone to check on your hotel reservations.  Click here to access the Competition Hotel Info webpage.

Second, we heard from a couple of people yesterday that their Westin Peachtree Plaza reservations (for the Revolution Dance competition, April 17-19) were cancelled (an email was sent to them saying it had been cancelled).   We heard from our Westin rep that this was due to a glitch in their reservation system. They are working to resolve the issue (hopefully by end of day today), and the reservations will be reinstated. However, if you have a reservation at the Westin, we would recommend that you check on it to be sure you still have it.

If you have an issue with a reservation that is part of one of our hotel reservation blocks, please email us at footnotesdanceblog@gmail.com, and we will ask our Hotel Reservation Coordinator team to get involved.

With all of the flu and virus talk that is on top of everyone’s minds, we thought we should put out a reminder about using common sense on whether to send your dancer to dance class or rehearsal.

First, if your dancer is running a fever, please do not have your dancer attend class at the studio. If your dancer is not feeling well, but does not have a fever, have her attend dance class…but she must observe the class and take notes when appropriate (no being on her phone, doing homework, etc. is allowed). Also, please let Cheryl know of her illness via the FootNotes email address (footnotesdance@comcast.net) so that she is aware that your dancer will be either “sitting out in class” or “not present.”

Second, whether at school, dance, or your home, have your dancer wash her hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, and avoid touching her eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

Third, bring a small hand sanitizer to use before eating a snack or other food in case your dancer does not have time to wash her hands in the restroom.

The studio uses Lysol to clean the air of germs each day.

OVATION, PREMIER, ELITE Schedule Change for TONIGHT:

The Jon Carr classes for tonight (Wednesday, February 26) are cancelled. He is re-scheduling the classes at the studio for next Wednesday, March 4 (with the same schedule):

• OVATION at 6pm – 7pm
• PREMIER at 7pm – 8pm
• ELITE at 8pm – 9pm

To all Vibe Moms and our Premier & Elite dancers…

Cheryl and Linda Nowlin are hosting a free Shred415 class on Wednesday, April 1st at 6pm.  It will be held at the Shred415 Studio on Windward Pkwy.  This is a 60 minute fitness class, consisting of four 15 minute segments alternating between treadmills and free weights on the floor.   It is totally modifiable, and you can go at your own pace!  It should be a lot of fun so let us know if you’d like to join us!    As a reminder, we have added it to the Master Calendar as well.
